GovPayNet, one of the nation’s top payment processing providers for government agencies, has been acquired by Securus Technologies. The move was announced on January 4, 2018 and marks the latest in a large number of company acquisitions for Securus. GovPayNet provides electronic payment processing for a wide range of payments to include tax payments, traffic and criminal fines, and cash bail, to over 2,300 government agencies in 35 states. Their services cover over 26% of all United States counties. Mark MacKenzie, CEO of GovPayNet, will remain in his current role. Along with Securus-owned payment processor, JPay, the company now has the capability to process over 40 million payments annually.
Securus Technologies is a Dallas, Texas-based provider of technology-based services for the corrections and law enforcement industries. They provide payment processing, parolee and inmate tracking, inmate self-service, phone services, biometric analysis, and other services to over 3,500 corrections facilities in North America. They operate a U.S.-base call center with over 220 full-time employees and are rated A+ with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Dallas. Securus Technologies is a holding company that operates over 20 wholly-owned subsidiaries in the United States. Their CEO and President is Robert “Bob” Pickens, who was named to the position effective January 1, 2018.
